After crashes when I try to use the pen tool

For the last few days after crashes when I try to use the pen or tool shape, it saves the project automatically and I have not lost any information, the project opens ok but as soon as I click on the pen tool, it crashes.

Happens to me too, since I updated to the October release. It has also crashed when I try to use the rectangle tool.

I found this and it helped me. At least for now. You just have to close the Footage panel if it's opened.
