Hi,

to say anything, wenned some more information. At least, your system parameters, exact AE version, video format, video settings, your composition settings.

If this is your first time using AE, you may be using it wrong.

After Effects is not video editing software like Premiere Pro, so you can't just hit spacebar and have it play video. After Effects is a pixel-perfect compositor, so it has to first build a preview and then it can play it back. (This is most likely the issue with the "robotic" voice.)

The green bands appearing are probably due to some sort of wonkiness with your video codec such as having variable frame rate. Where did you get this footage from? If it's a phone or a screen capture, it's almost definitely variable frame rate. Converting it with AME or DuME to something with a specific frame rate.

The footage is probably an MP4 that is highly compressed, may have a variable frame rate, comes from a mobile device, and may have a frame or two that has been corrupted. The solution is to force the footage to a standard frame rate using the Interpret Footage tools in AE or render a digital intermediate to a visually lossless production format using the Adobe Media Encoder and making sure that the render conforms to video standards. That's a lot for a newbie to digest.

The best way to start learning After Effects is to open the Learn section on the AE Home page or open the Learn Workspace and spend 20 minutes on the self-guided tour. Then spend some quality time with the User Guide going through the beginner section and the rendering tutorials. The worst way to start learning After Effects is to search the internet for tutorials, open AE, and just dive in. Most of the tutorials you find searching the net are poorly prepared, explained, and thought out recipes for specific effects or animations that have been prepared by well-meaning enthusiasts. You have to vet your trainers and make sure they know what they are talking about.
