After Effects Animated GIF render - Previous frames leave traces

Hello.

I created an animation in After Effects 2018 CC. I've rendered it in .mp4 format without incident, but the problem comes with the exported GIF. The GIF exports as expected, but has traces of previous frames in newer ones. I tried making a very simple animation where a circle just scales higher and lower to test if that would work, but i see the same problem there, too.

Here's what it looks like:

That happens when the framerates, or more specifically the frame durations, don't match. I'd never create a GIF directly from AE, anyway. Open an image sequence in photoshop and convert it there. Otherwise you have to fiddel with the framerate settings to avoid those temporal sampling artifacts.
