after effects freezing when bringing files into my composition

Hi, i'm trying to import video files into my composition, but everytime i drag it onto it, after effects freezes and i have to re-open the project. I can import an mp3 file for my audio but when i bring in my QuickTime files, the program freezes. This issue just recently started happening and I'm not sure how to fix it.

This issue could be a clip specific issue. Are you getting this issue with all the clips or a particular one? Also, are you on macOS or Windows?
