Can I add particle playground instead of particle system to text?

Hello All,

I am trying to create an effect that emenates from text using this tutorial. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&q=turn+text+into+particles+after+effects#kpvalbx=...

However after playing around with Particle Playground, Particle Systems II, etc. the ideal particle effect is in Particle Playground, not Systems that is used in this video. I can get the particles to move really slow in that one.

Am I out of luck? Does the text to particle effect only work with the particle system II?

Thanks.

Of course you can substituite effects as you see fit, but understanding Particle Playground is a whole different level from just slapping on Particle Systems II. You would have to completely change some of the techniques. It's a powerful, but old and clunky to use effect. It's going to be far from "replace step X in the tutorials with Y"...

Hi Mylenium, thanks.

This is a unique link in that the link for the vodeo seems to be the same as for the Google search.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&q=turn+text+into+particles+after+effects#kpvalbx=...

So when you click on the link go to the 1st video down called Sand To Text.

But Iw as able to aslo open in You Tube.

Your link is for a google search, not a tutorial. What tutorial are you actually looking at. Maybe we can help, but as Mylenium said, Particle Playground is a very clunky and difficult to master effect that can be effectively used for a lot of things.

If you can't get that to work embed a screenshot with the modified properties of the problem layer revealed. Just select your text and particle playground layer, press 'uu', and send us a screenshot.

Particle Playground has a Layer Exploder and a Persistent Property mapper that can be used to control lifetime. I don't have time to make screenshots but if you play with those properties you should be able to come up with something. I would try a shape layer with a gradient fill for the source of the persistent property manager.

Thanks so much, I will experiment with those. I like the variables of the particle effects.
