Crashing when dragging files from file explorer?

Community Beginner ,
Feb 15, 2020 Feb 15, 2020

I can still import files normally via File > Import but if I drag anything from the file explorer it causes AE to freeze and crash. Really disruptive to my usual workflow so any help would be appreciated.

Up to date 17.0.2 AE & Windows 10.

You check the codec of the file which After Effects supports or not.

Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out. I see that After Effects is crashing when you drag a file into it.

Could you try resetting the preferences of After Effects? https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-...

Check if there are any updates available for Windows. Also, as suggested by @ToolfarmJP, make sure that the files are supported by After Effects. https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/kb/supported-file-formats.html

Let us know how if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu
