I'm unclear how JavaScript, the most popular programming language in the world, serves as a 'big limit' for developers; also, how the lack of C# APIs somehow constitutes a very bad issue...?

AE Plug-ins can be written in C or C++. AE Panels and scripting rely on JavaScript, and ExtendScript (a version of JavaScript).

Hopefully, you can use these industry standard programming languages, to offer the integration you'd like.

I believe only c or c++ is supported.

the AE SDK is in C+, so interfacing with AE is done in C+. anything else

besides interfacing with AE to fetch and return data can be done in any

other language.

mixing languages in a project is a common practice, and doing so with AE's

SDK is no different.
