whjat "spikes"? The plant structure? That's likely created with a particle system like Trapcode Particular or Stardust. The rest is just a bunch of Roughen Edges effects and glows, though possibly Saber could be used just as well to create the outlines of the doors and windows as already mentioned.

If you're talking about the rectangular outlines, that looks like Video Copilot's free Saber plugin to me.  The fern like pattern looks like stock imagery, unless it's growing
