How to Shut OFF Conformed Media Cache?

I wonder if there any possibility to deactivate Conformed Media Cache in AE. Or at least to set somehow a limit of this cache size. The problem is that I have about 1 Tb of footages linked to single project file (and amount trends to increase). And I don't need much improvement of preview performance, but I'm running out of disk space very quick after opening this project. Moreover I get performance drop because of AE starts to caching all linked files at background immediately, and if drive space ends - starts to permanent alert about error. For the same reason a can not clear or delete this huge cache manually, it is re-creates again without any limits. I do not satisfied such behavior of AE, just want to work with footage directly, bypass this caching. Is there any suggestions?

This is how After Effects and Premiere work; you can't disable this cache because you need it to work. This is exactly why it keeps rebuilding as soon as you delete it—you simply need a larger drive.

You can't say you're happy with preview performance without the cache files because the performance you're currently satisfied with is based on those files.

Thanks for answer. Even if preview performance will drop 10 times - it will be ok in my case (in fact I don't watch previews before rendering in this project). Still hope that there is a way to work without conforming all source files. Larger drive - it is obvious decision, but I'd rather mark some checkbox in preferences than buy dedicated HDD for files I don't need to. Of course if such option exist.

Sorry, this is how the software operates. It's one thing to be able to play back a file in a player with no issue, but to manipulate it and to stack effects the way Ae or Pr does requires more than just simple playback. You're definitely in the minority if you don't need to watch previews before rendering a project, but even so, I don't think it's just about watching previews.

Awful program (After effects) behaviour.
I have a dedicated HDD 1 TB special for the cache. And it always becames full after render some projects. And I have to clear every time it manually.
I don't have to have preview perfomance.
Checkbox in preferences would be great solution.
