Mocha plugin is extremely slow and sometimes crashes After Effects after closing.

Hello,
I am having trouble with the Mocha plugin in After Effects. When I launch Mocha, it takes a long time to load the footage (about 20 to 30 seconds). Then once it does load, all my button presses lag by about 10 seconds making Mocha unusable. I have been running into this issue for about a year now across 2 different machines. I keep hoping it will be fixed in the next version of AE, but the problem has gotten worse even with the most up-to-date version of AE. It used to happen roughly every few times I launch Mocha, but now it happens almost every time I launch it. And after I manage to close Mocha, it crashes After Effects. Mocha tracking is an essential part of my workflow and this problem has brought my productivity to a hault. I've tried many of the suggestions posted on other forums such as removing all versions of After Effects and reinstalling it, but nothing has worked so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Jason

Without any system info, details about the comp and footage as well as critical stuff like graphics hardware settings or cache settings nobody can tell you anything.

Sometimes when you work in a work environment you tend to have very similar computers, tell us in detail the technical details of your systems as well as the clips you are working with.

I apologize for not including the specs in my original post since some of the info for my workstation is locked behind the administrator account. I reached out to IT with the specs for my main workstation which are:
CPU: Intel Xeon Silver 4208
GPU: Nvidia Quadro P2200
RAM: 64 GB DDR4 with 56GB dedicated to AE
Storage: Two 1 TB SSD drives with Windows 10 OS installed on one drive and the footage stored on the other. Both drives have 70% percent free space and the maximum disk cache is set to 125 GB. The cache folder is set to the OS drive, but I've experimented with both.
These are the specs for my older workstation:
CPU: AMD FX-8350
GPU: GTX 1070
RAM: 16 GB DDR 3
Storage: 2 SSD drives.
Most of my footage is 4K XAVC with an MP4 wrapper shot with a Sony Alpha. However, I still get the issue when I convert the footage to other codecs like a JPEG image sequence or a lightweight H.264 at 1080p.
Please let me know if you need more information!
Thank you,
Jason

Are you using Mocha Pro or the bundled Mocha AE? 20-30 seconds to launch is not normal behavior. If you would like to start a dialogue with the Mocha dev team to help investigate, you can post to the Mocha forums found here:

Thanks Ross! I'm using the bundled Mocha AE. I'll see if there is anything I can find on the Boris FX forums.
To clarify, the program does launch right away, but the footage takes a while to show up. From there, all my button presses lag. Even pressing the close button on Mocha takes a while to register.

Hey there! I just wanted to give an update for anyone who has this problem since I found some useful advice on the Mocha forums. It turns out that GPU processessing can be the cause of some performance issues in Mocha. In the Preferences>GPU tab you can uncheck "Use GPU Processing". The freezing issue hasn't completely gone away with this fix, but it seems to be far less frequent now.

Hi
Have you been able to find a complete solution?
Mocha is so slow that I cannot even get to the GPU preferences.
thanks
