PNG Sequence Import Error

New Here ,

Hi, im trying to import a PNG sequence in After Effects CS3. I've never had any issue with this in the past. I am able to import individual frames but obviously this wouldn't be practical. Any thoughts besides a re-install? (don't currently have the disc). Running Windows 10.

Reinstalling will do nothing. From the looks of it there is an issue with the actual naming of the files, so start by checking that the files and folders don't contain special characters, the overall file path does not exceed a specific length and the sequence does not exceed a certain number of frames (9999, if I remeber correctly). Using a software release from more than a decade ago that is clearly not supported by a OS released 2 years ago will cause problems. It is actually only supported for Ae 2015.3 and above.

If you do get it to work, you will probably get stuck again as codecs and other problems will creep up.

if you are selecting sequence at the import menu, or reset your preference, then you have done all you can to import it. Other than that it's a roll of the dice to make Ae cs3 function on win 10 at all.

Creating smaller partitions and/or simply moving stuff to other locations may help.

There is a great little app called Better that you could use to rename files. Try renaming them something really simple like a name with just lowercase letters and the number.
