Simple slide in with bounce preset

New Here ,

Hi, I have a been hunting all day for a set of animation presets to make the following process easier:

1. Place an imported image or text layer where I want it to end up

2. Apply a preset that makes all the text(or object) slide in at once (not character by character, the entire text box or object), then have a little overshoot at the end. I imagine I need 4 presets (slide in from top/bottom/left/right), but perhaps a single preset/effect would have an angle control that fulfils the same purpose?

To expand on why I need this, i'm looking to make infographics, where very often words slide in at the time of the narration (a little overshoot is important for a slightly organic feel). So I'll go through and layout a scene, with maybe 30 different pieces of text, get them all in place, and then need to add a 'slide in from X side' preset to each text in turn, and the preset should make them end up wherever I've put them. Often I'll want to slide in an image alongside the text, so the preset would need to work on a precomp of the two elements(the text and image combined).

Does anyone know of a preset package that definitely has this? Looking at the 1000+ presets package, tbey all look too flashy, I never see really simple movement with overshoot, they always have characters coming in with staggered timing/flipping up etc.

Many thanks for any help!

I'm not clear what you're asking. What's wrong with building your own animation presets, possibly including the usual bounce/ overshoot expression stuff. Even the positioning could be automated and all you'd ever need is to just place the text in its final position. The latter of course would actually require to combine the typical bits and pieces you can find on the Internet into one consistent expression, but it's perfectly doable.

Hi Mylenium, cheers for the response.

As you say: 'What's wrong with building your own animation presets, possibly including the usual bounce/ overshoot expression stuff. Even the positioning could be automated and all you'd ever need is to just place the text in its final position' - but I can't work out how you'd automate this , and it seems like it must be quite simple, so I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of something that does this. Scripting isn't easy if you've not worked with it before, and by the time I've spent 3 or 4 hours piecing together something, I would have been far better off just buying a preset - but I haven't found a preset that does what you've described in the bit I've quoted above ðŸ™‚

I have shared this one many times. https://www.dropbox.com/s/tewk9s88mpkmnou/flyInBounceDropOut.ffx?dl=0

If you don't want to drop out part you can just comment it out.

Rick this is amazing, thank you so much!

Please forgive my ignorance, how can I access the expression/code behind that .ffx? I'll need to create some varaiants and also comment out the drop out as you've said.

This is exactly what I want though, I just need to make a version to fly in from the other directions!

My tool Squash & Stretch is also great for these kinds of animations. In contrast to simple animation presets, Squash & Stretch behaviors adjust to the size and aspect radio of every layer to make sure they always as good as possible.
