Dear fellow after effects user -
I seem to be having problems getting the audio waveform/spectrum to show up.
I made sure the audio layer was connected to the wave and all I see are white dots
instead of where the actual waveform is supposed to be.
The original file is an mp3, and when I double click (l) the audio appears to read fine.
So it's not the actual audiophile that is the issue.
Would appreciate the help - Thanks!

you need to apply the effect to the solid layer, not the mp3 file which has not video switch.

show us your whole Ae interface including the timeline. on the Audio layer press LL so we can see the waveform in the timeline.
