What is this "Secret" Preferences setting in AE and what exactly does it do?

Hello,

I found a video about this secret setting in AE, hold shift and open up Preferences and it's at the bottom.

So what's the deal?  What are those boxes for and what does it affect?

I'm hoping it's some magic to make the rotobrush propagate faster... or timeline rendering faster??

Or is this just for pre-rendering a comp?

Thanks for your advice,
Letty

If you have a very minimal system that has little or no free resources you can sometimes make AE work better when rendering using the Render Queue if you check the first box. Quite a few years ago this was often useful. I think the last time I used it was with CS3.

Don't check the second one unless nothing seems to be working. It's a last-ditch hack that only applies to rendering image sequences. It keeps the render going if a frame gets fouled up. Most of the time you can just restart a failed image sequence render on the frame that failed and be just fine.

Thanks Rick, I'll just leave 'em as I found em... blank.  My pre render exports fine.

Was hoping it was some magic link to make the rotobrush propagate faster.  😉

Thanks,

Wow! Awesome find!

With that being said it looks like it is secret for a reason and more for tech support.

I wouldn't mess with it.
