Hello!

I'm using Audition and I'm trying to "Insert Silence" into my clip but the dialog box does not show up. I've gone to "Edit > Insert > Silence" and I've also tried the "Effects > Silence" the option is greyed out and doesnt seem to be active.

I just installed Audition for the first time since using "SoundBooth" so I'm not sure why this option isnt working.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks so much and God Bless!

Same bug (Insert Silence dialog does not show up in Waveform view) with Audition 23.6.1.3 - only happens to m4a files. Convert the file to any other format (wav, mp3, anything) and it works as expected. Definitely a bug.

I have the same problem when I tried to insert a duration of silence to a audio track of m4a format.  However, after converting it to wav format, I successfully inserted a duration of silence.

I'm having the same problem. I've used this tool for years. Double checked to make sure it wasn't hidden. Definitely think this is a bug.

Edit>Insert>Silence works fine here. Chances are that the dialog box is working, but has hidden itself somewhere on your display. If you want to test this idea first, then make a selection on the waveform screen, Select Edit>Insert>Silence, and hit the Enter key. If it turns your selection to silence, then it's working. If it doesn't, something strange has happened to your installation - report back.

When this happens with any sort of dialog prompt, it's usually behind the main screen. But I have to say in the same breath that it really shouldn't happen at all. When that sort of dialog box pops up, it defaults to sitting centre-screen and in front. You can move the box temporarily if you want, but next time it's called, it's back to where it should be. So if you pick up the whole main screen and move it, and it isn't there, then we'd have to be looking at a different situation, and there's only one that comes to mind - and that's that your PC's video driver has refused to display it as a separate entity. If this happens, then the thing to do is to find out whether there's an updated video driver available. You may think that's a bit far-fetched, but believe me, it isn't... I have to update the video driver on my DAW regularly because Microsoft have done something strange and unnecessary with their updates. I think they do it just to keep Nvidia on their toes, but updating really does keep it performing correctly, which it doesn't otherwise. So it's well worth checking.

Firstly sir! Thanks for all your help and respondes! Having someone to talk to about computer issues is helpful by itself! God bless you sir!

Ok, So after your last response, I uninstalled and reinstalled Audiotion from the Creative Cloud interface. (That was easy to do by the way!!!) And it still didnt work.

However, I tried it again and in seems like the "Insert > Silence" command only works from the "Multitrack View" not the "Waveform View". Please see my scren video here: https://www.loom.com/share/a7f42ea53c3e42d0877522700fddbef7

Is this how this is supposed to work? Shouldnt it work from both views?
