I purchased a Google Play book and downloaded the ACSM to my desktop. When I try and open it with my Adobe Digital Edition, I get the error message "Error getting license. License server communication problem: E_Stream_Error"

Hello, I have managed to solve my problem of E_STREAM_ERROR with regards to the Google Play ebook. The short answer is to use ADE 4.0.3.
When I encountered the E_STREAM_ERROR problem, it was with ADE 2.0.67532 on Windows 7 (and this had no problems handling acsm files from Kobo, OverDrive, Open Library and a sample epub acsm from Adobe itself).
That is why I would not upgrade my 2.0.67532 to the latest 4.0.3. Instead, I used another Windows 7 PC and installed ADE 4.0.3. On my first trial, I authorised the 4.0.3 without an ID and there was an error E-GOOGLE_DEVICE_LIMIT_REACHED. I then authorised it with the same Adobe ID* as my 2.0.67532 PC. It worked as I was able to get my epub from Google.
As I do not expect any response from the Adobe technical support, I now assume that Google's LIcense Servers are not working with Adobe 2.0.3. I hope this will help you solve your problem - at least to get your ebook into ADE first.
However, I would be cautious in replacing my 2.0.67532 with 4.0.3 as I would not be surprised if the latest version will not work with other acsm epub providers. To me upgrading to the latest version of software is never the best solution - it might solve one problem, but creates another.
Note: * I understand that you can authorise up to a total six computers with the same Adobe ID. Not sure whether this policy still stands.

Thanks so much for the post, I downloaded the newer software and it worked perfectly! Such a simple answer, I couldn't even get Google Play to answer my question. Thanks again for the advice!
