Cannot locate linked assets (but assets don't exist in file)

Okay so I'm getting the age old cannot locate assets error. Which is fine and dandy. BUT that asset does not exist in the PSD file at all. I searched and no file is found. I even went as far as to remake that assets and then reopen the file and relink it within the PSD to see if it would then show up so I could remove it. Nothing. It's obnoxious. 

Suggested feature: in the "relink panel" on startup give the option to "relink" or "remove". 

In the meantime, anyone know how to fix this so I dont see that dialong box everytime I open this file?
