After I updated Illustrator 28.0, it now won't print a pdf. I can't find a solution anywhere. Does anyone on the forum have a solution?

Hello @gregb95080158,

I'm sorry to hear that you're facing issues with printing PDFs in Illustrator 28.0 after the latest update. Let's try to find a solution for you. To better assist you, could you please provide more details about your system setup? Specifically, we'd like to know the make and model of your printer, your operating system, and any relevant printing settings.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Resetting Illustrator Preferences: Sometimes, issues related to printing can be resolved by resetting Illustrator preferences. To do this, press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift (or Cmd + Option + Shift on Mac) while launching Illustrator. This will prompt you to reset your preferences.

  • Changing Default Printer: Ensure that the correct default printer is set in your operating system. Illustrator might be trying to print to a printer that's not currently available or properly configured.

  • Reinstalling Printer Driver: If resetting preferences doesn't work, consider reinstalling the driver for your printer. This might help resolve any driver-related issues.

  • Print from Another Application: Try printing a PDF from another application to check if the issue is specific to Illustrator.

  • Printer Settings: Review the printer settings in Illustrator, making sure the page size and layout settings match your document. Sometimes, incorrect settings can lead to printing issues.

If you've already tried these steps, please let us know the results. If not, give them a try, and if you encounter any error messages or issues during the process, please share those details as well.

We're here to help you find a solution to this problem and get you back to printing your PDFs from Illustrator.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini

So this is about creating a PDF by printing it?

Or about importing a PDF in Illustrator and then printing?

That method has been obsolete for at least 20 years.

Which system are you using? If Mac OS Sonoma, then exactly that might be preventing you from printing your PDF. Apply has said good-bye to PostScript.

I have been "printing" pdfs directly from Illustrator, Publisher, Word, etc. for years up until October, when it suddenly stopped working. I use Windows 11.

Hi @Fernanda_Jardi3072

Sorry for the delayed response. When you try to print a PDF from Illustrator, do you see the Adobe PDF option in the print settings? Also, could you confirm which version of Illustrator you're using?

Regards,

Srishti
