I'm now running AI on a macbook pro 16" (2021) with M1 Max chip.
Mac OS: Ventura 13.0
Memory: 64GB
Adobe Illustrator v27.0.1
I have a big color problem between CPU/GPU previews.
Also, Between Photoshop/Illustrator&Indesign too.
In GPU preview, all colors become dull, whiter and inaccurate.
I didn't have this issue before the latest updates.
I tried to reinstall an older version, but the problem persists.
I am having the problem on both indesign and illustrator.
Do you have a solution to make indesign and illustrator see colors clearly in GPU preview like photoshop?
Hi @iamhyona,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing the details. As Monika said, this is a known issue.
We have investigated, and it has been found reproducible on our end on Apple Silicon running on macOS Ventura only.
However, it works fine on macOS Monterey on Apple Silicon. Seems like a new change brought up by Apple.
This is acknowledged and will be worked on by developers in future updates.
Currently, workarounds to this are to use CPU preview from the View Menu or run the app under rosetta

Does this problem still not have a solution?
Do I have to wait for Adobe to fix this issue and release an update?

Hi,
I just updated to the latest Mac OS (Ventura 13.1) and the problem seems to be fixed. There is no longer a difference between CPU/GPU previews in Illustrator and Indesign.

I still look different. (For reference, I updated both Mac OS and Illustrator to the latest date of 20/12/22.)

Hi @iamhyona,
Thanks for checking & updating us. I am unable to replicate the issue on the Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max screen after upgrading to macOS v13.1. Would you mind confirming if this is happening on your Macbook's inbuilt screen or external monitor(s)?
Thanks,
Anshul Saini

I have the same issue. Both macOs and Adobe Illustrator are runing in their last updates. The problem appears only on my external monitor (DELL U2518D) while on my macbook's Pro 16'' M1 inbuilt creen everything works fine. I have tried different color profiles for my Dell monitor whith no success.

Hello @Simon5ED2,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing the same issue with Illustrator. Could you please attempt to recalibrate your monitor(s) for sRGB (https://adobe.ly/3PlnizH), restart your computer, and then reopen Illustrator to check if that resolves the problem?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @Dimitris66,
I'm sorry to learn that the recommendations were not effective. Could you please provide the version of your OS/Illustrator, a short overview of your workflow, and the display color settings in macOS along with the Color Settings configured in Illustrator so I can assist you more effectively?
I look forward to your response.

Many thanks for your answer. I currently use Adobe Illustrator 29.1 and MacOs Sequoia 15.2. I work in Illustrator on RGB files on my external monitor (DELL U2518D). I tried different color profiles in Illustrator and monitor with no success. The problem does not appear at all in my MacBook inbuilt screen. Current Illustrator color settings are: Working RGB space: sRGB IEC61966-2.1. Current external monitor profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1

Hello @Dimitris66,
Thank you for confirming. Is the internal display on your Mac configured to use the same color profile as your external Dell monitor? If it isn't, please consider recalibrating both to the same sRGB setting, restart your computer, and then open Illustrator again to check if it resolves the issue.
I look forward to your response.

I don’t know how to match the internal and external monitors color profiles. My MacBook Pro built in display uses the apple SDR display color profile. When I try to change it in anything else, the monitor turns very dark and there is no way to control its brightness. As for the external monitor, I can’t find this color profile in the external monitor color profiles list.

Hello @Dimitris66,
Thanks for the confirmation. It seems this problem is replicable on our end on macOS. Would you mind trying the workaround to use CPU preview or run the app using Rosetta/open as Intel, as Anshul suggested earlier? Also, kindly upvote the UserVoice to stay updated on the latest changes.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.
