Delete Hidden Layers command deletes quite a lot of things

The latest version of Illustrator (25.3) introduces a new command in the flyout menu of the Layers palette. It is called Delete Hidden Layers.

It's a useful command, but to my surprise it deletes hidden groups and objects inside visible layers and visible groups as well. In my eyes this is utterly wrong and may cause a lot of trouble.

Probably there should be at least two or three different commands: Delete Hidden Layers and Delete Hidden Objects and Delete All Hidden Items.

Does anyone think that the current behaviour is appropriate?

Yes, I know that this is basically a matter for the Uservoice section of this forum.

Hi Kurt (and others),

I took the liberty of making a uservoice post from this topic:

https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/43634643-delete-hidden-layers-command-innapropriately-nam

I have shared on prerelease too.

So it's a 'delete hidden everything' command?

It sounds like it's not appropriately named at all then.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Delete hidden layers will delete everything ( object/layer/sublayer/group ) which is hidden inside layers panel . This is an expected behavior.

I would request you to share your suggestions on our UserVoice page ( https://illustrator.uservoice.com/ ). This forum is directly monitored by our developers, they might look into implementing it in future releases.

Regards,
