Hi All,

As I can see this issue is occuring for some of the Mac users, and not all of them. It could be the issue persists for old documents and they are not getting saved propely. Also they could have been saved without any preview at the time of creation, and the issue got highlighted now due to "Preview Not Saved" Dialogue.

Kindly follow these steps and update me on your findings : (Kindly reply on this post only for better tracking)

1. Open your document, which is showing the "Preview not saved" issue.

2. No need to mention this but still, just double check on the "Always Save Preview" preference, and get it enabled.

3. Make a slight change in your document, so that asterik "*" appears beside your document name. You will see something like this

Now we can say that the document has been dirtied. (This is an important step, without this preview saving wont happen)

4. Now re-save your file again, so that the asterik "*" sign disappears. Now your document has been saved.

5. Re-check if the Preview appears now. The File preview should be visible.

Still, if the File Preview is not visible, kindly attach your file here, with a screenshot.

Thanks,

Siddhant Gupta

Hello, Thanks for the instructions. I had done a dirty save earlier, and now I followed your instructions again but I still don't get to see a file preview. I will provide a Creative Cloud link in a private message.

Same problem. I think it started happening when Adobe InDesign updated to 18.1. I work on mac OS 12.6.2

Same problem here on Ventura 13.1 and Indesign 18.1

Preview shows 'Preview not saved'.

But.. when browsing these indesign files with Adobe Bridge, the preview shows! So, the preview is saved but not shown by OSX.

I can confirm the same....preview shows in Bridge but again, not in OSX Finder preview.

What are your settings in Preferences/File Handling?

If you select the item in your Finder window and get Info, does it show "Open with InDesign 2023"?

Yes it is (see my prefs attached) these have never changed. It recently started happening out of the blue, not sure why? I did noticed that much older IND files do show the IND icon in the preview pane.

Did this start happening after an upgrade to 12.6?

I don't beleive so but if anything, it started happening when Adobe InDesign updated to 18.1
