Hi @cassandrap03191992,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the trouble in placing the mp3 file in InDesign. Would you mind trying the steps suggested in this post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/cannot-place-this-file-no-filter-found-for-reque... and let us know if that helps?

If it doesn't, please share the below details for investigation.

  • The version of InDesign and the operating system specification.
  • Does that happen with a specific file or all files?
  • Is it happening on a new file?

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Is it happening for all .mp3s or just certain ones? If the latter, I would say there's a corruption in that audio file (pretty common in .mp3, particularly ones from the internet). Try open and resave the .mp3 in an audio program and try again.

Are those files in a cloud service folder such as iCloud, Dropbox or OneDrive? If so, make sure that any smart sync features are turned OFF.

You appear to be on a Mac, so if you are using system Monterey or Ventura, and the files you are try to place are on an external drive or cloud location, check your Mac's Security & Privacy settings in regards to Full Disk Access. If your Adove apps aren't there, it can cause issues where a normally recognized file will fail.
