Will the preset PDF/X-4:2008  automatically and adequately convert Adobe RGB images to CMYK?

I've asked the kind folks at DiscMakers.com (twice) and wanted to check here, just to be sure before having to re-edit all photos in CMYK.

Thank you for any pointers.

Either I'm misunderstanding the question or you are, Derek.

Yes, that's what it's designed to do, so that the PDF is suitable for commercial litho printing, but understand that the gamut (range of colors) of CMYK is much less than that of RGB. So you won't get bright greens and bright oranges.

My thanks to Derek, Rob, Bob, Steve and Frans. Excellent replies

My apologies, it appears that my original question could have been clearer as I had omitted any qualifier regarding the explicit Output setting, and absent anything besides the default of No Color Conversion, I've given Bob's answer top marks (though I feel to be the least appropriate judge).

The directions given on DiscMakers.com might also have room for improvement:

The added uncertainty around RIP makes hesitant to say anything else; however, and in the hopes that I don't need to re-edit all of the images and allow them to stay tagged with Adobe RGB, would the following modified preset with the shown Output settings make sense?

Thank you all very much for your help.
