Hey guys i have a quation. I am a begginer photographer and i want to edit my pictures in lightroom. I have a very heavy laptop (hp elitebook 8470p) and i want to edit my pictures on the road.... i have no money for a new laptop because i am a student. So i was thinking to buy a cheap windows tablet with a keyboard. So i found on internet this tablet  Lenovo ThinkPad 10 Ultrabook. I am shooting in RAW. And i want a fast proces in lightroom. Maybe you can advice me an another laptop. Or is this one good?

         With greets,

This is too vague to comment on. Which iPad? What are it's hardware specifications? You can afford to subscribe to Lightroom CC so you can get Lightroom Mobile, but you can't afford a decent computer?

And Lightroom Mobile has a number of limitations compared to full Lightroom.

Why don't you consider some freeware software which probably has lower hardware requirements?

The idea of using a "cheap" (whatever that means) system for Lightroom is one you will regret. "Cheap" systems are never "fast", which is something else you say you want. This simply is not a good idea.

Getting a system that meets the minimum requirements is also not a good idea, it will be SLOW.

I would advise getting the fastest CPU you can afford, plus 8MB of memory or more, and a 64 bit operating system

In addition to what dj said: Personally, I'd also go for a system with a SSD instead of a conventional disk.

If the goal is to save money on some components, I would go for a conventional disk and not an SSD. I have never used an SSD, and I do not think my Lightroom is slow. But all of this depends on a lot of things which haven't been mentioned ...

Also, my advice above is for Lightroom ONLY. If you are going to be using other software regularly on this computer, then perhaps the requirements change.

Hi sinnedtims,

You do need a good for the latest version of Lightroom CC 2015. You can refer the minimum system requirements for it: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom system requirements
