  1. Description

In the latest update, the star rating only shows on the filmstrip. When culling in Lightroom (especially for clients who have rated images using stars that are not to be culled out) it is impossible to cull without looking at the filmstrip, thus reducing the actual screen available to see and compare images for effective culling.

  1. Why is this valuable to you?
It will allow me to cull without having the filmstrip open, and if it is open, I can still cull and not remove any images that have been previously rated without a second look. Just like the color labels, star labels could easily fit into the grid view surrounding the image in the gray area.

Nothing has changed, you can still have star ratings on the thumbnails in the grid too. Go to View - View options. There you can set what is shown on the thumbnails. If you use expanded thumbnails then you can add a whole lot of useful extra information.

You may need to reapply the checkmarks again in 'View Options' as shown in below screenshot. If this doesn't fix the issue, then reset the preferences as they may have been corrupted during upgrade (see Method 1 at https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html )
