Hello,
I have the last iteration of the "perpetual license" Lightroom 6 with Camera Raw 9.
When trying to import files by Canon 5D Mark IV the preview thumbnails appear grey with a message "Preview unavailable for this file" (screenshot).
The files are the regular type, not dual-pixel and are in both sRGB and Adobe RGB colour spaces.
My PC runs on Windows 10.
I am aware that this issue has been around since around 2017 at least but I could not find a working solution so please help with advice. Thanks.
Simeon
As @John Waller stated you're using Lightroom 6.0 and not 6.14 as you wrote. Therefore it's clear why Lightroom can't handle the 5D Mk IV files.
Here you'll find the installations files for the latest available version of LR 6 (6.14).
Please be patient, the downloads can take

This time it worked from your link - thanks a lot for helping. Mut be I had an older installer.

This seems not from the links that @Per Berntsen and I posted. In the posted links are installation files for the latest version of the perpetual Lightroom 6 version (6.14).
I don't know which link you've used, you installed a subscription based version, as @Rob_Cullen wrote.
Do you ask for an upgrading your catalog file after you start Lightroom?
The only way to fix it is a complete

Which exact version of Lightroom do you have installed?
For managing RAW files from the Canon 5D Mark IV you'll need Lightroom 6.7 or higher.

Do you use always the same SD card? If yes try to use another SD or a CF card. and check.
Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

I'll recommend to save the download files on an USB stick, hard drive or CD/DVD, but it isn't sure how long these links are available.

Thanks for the links however thwy both contain an installer pack that is the same as the one I have been using - here's a screenshot of the contents:
and
This is the sam pack from a previous download from web archive that I used; clicking the Set-up file 07/04/2015 03:42 produces the Lightroom version the details of which I sent you.
Weird.
Will give it another try and report back.

What version is showing if you click in Lightroom on "About..." in the Help menu?

@sigo A note of warning- Your screen-clip indicates your v6.14 has installed as the Subscription based Creative Cloud version "CC 2015.14"
If you don't pay a subscription I suspect you will be in Trial mode and usage will cease after 30 days.

The only way to fix it is a complete clean reinstallation of Lightroom 6. But beaware and deactivate your recent installation. Lightroom (Legacy v6.14) does not work if you have the Creative Cloud Desktop App installed. The desktop App converts Lr6 to Lr CC1025 which requires a paid subscription.
I can only suggest the following clena reinstallation without the CC client
This is now the only way known to install, activate and use Lr6.14
Check in your Adobe account if you have a subscription; login with your Adobe ID. If there's a subscription listed you must cancel it. Please take a look here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/cancel-subscription.html
and here:

If the installer detects a Creative Cloud subscription, it will install as version 2015.14.
This is the same version as 6.14, but has a few more features, like Clarity.
Lr 6 was released at the same time as Creative Cloud was introduced.
You could buy it as a standalone (perpetual) version, or get it as part of the subscription based Photography plan, in which case it installed as Lightroom CC 2015.
As mentioned by @Rob_Cullen you either have a Creative Cloud subscription or a 7 day trial.
The first system info you posted reports that you are running Windows 8, the second reports Windows 10.
Are both these system infos from the same computer? Lightroom is known to sometimes report the wrong Windows version.
If you have Windows 8 and a Creative Cloud subscription (not sure if that's possible), you will not be able to install the current version of LrC (14.4), which requires Windows 10 or later.
If you have Windows 10, the current version of LrC might install and run, but it will be very slow because of your very old GPU. The Nvidia Quadro K3000M was released in 2012, so it's 13 years old.
You also have only 8 GB RAM, which is listed as minimum by Adobe, but you really need 16 GB or more.
But if Lr 6 works OK, you can of course continue to use that.

Both system reports are from the same machine so the Windows 8 OS must be a Lr mistake.
My [yes, 13Y old :)] machine runs on Windows 10 and I understand the limitations for Lr however I am an enthusiast user and have no high expectations for speed and productivity - for now.
The fact is I do not have a Creative Cloud subscription (have a perpetual license of 2015) so I do not understand why the installation produced a CC 2015.14 version. Will reinstall and do the deep cleaning as per insturtions above and install again.
Cheers
