Loss of Keywords and imported photos prior to 10-11-2023; Update related?

Just after the latest LRC update, I find that any previous imported files are missing, My catalog is gone.  My lengthy Keyword list is missing as well.  However, my pre-sets are still present and ok.  I can import new files/photos and edit them.  How can I find my old catalog, old imports, and keywords or bring them back?

I don't know if this is a technical issue with LRC or a perceptual issue with me(Am I missing something?)

You most likely upgraded the wrong catalog file. Have your operating system search all folders on all disks for files whose named ends with .LRCAT, and then probably (not definitely) the largest one you find will be the one you want to upgrade.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll continue my explorations.  At a last resort, I can always re-import about ten batches of photos back into LRC in order to continue editing them.  I'll try to find the right .LRCAT first.

Sounds more like Lightroom created a new catalog. It happens sometimes that Lightroom loses the connection to its catalog during an upgrade, so it creates a new one thinking this is a first installation. So indeed you must find the correct catalog.

You stated update, did you actually mean upgrade? As in upgrading from v12.5 to v13.0 (instead of updating from v13.0 to 13.0.1)

During upgrades, occasionally LrC opens/presents the wrong catalog, often a new one, this has never actually been explained. Might be a corrupt preference file. Occurs for a small set of users.

So as dj_paige has recommended, look for a different catalog.

Thanks for the tip.  Yes, it probably was an "upgrade".  The issue probably arose while the upgrade was in process.  I have an old pc that ran slow and stopped with 80% of the upgrade complete.  A second try was good, but the pause probablycaused my woes.  I'll continue my explorations.  At a last resort, I can always re-import about ten batches of photos back into LRC in order to continue editing them.  I'll try to find the right .LRCAT first.

"Catalog is gone" — what does this mean?

I mean that all the previous photos in my catalog are missing.   A test import of new photos is present in the current catalog.  With all my other photos missing, I'm not sure whether it is the old catalog or a replacement.  Thanks.
