Unable to import .CR2 Raw files to Lightroom Classic from Canon MarkIV

Hello-

I rented a camera for a photoshoot and I'm VERY MUCH regretting it. I was upgraded from the Mark III to Mark IV and I had no problem importing raw files in the III, but when I attempt to import from Mark IV, it states file not recognized. I am having the same issue as noted in this thread (and a few others), but it doesn't appear anyone was able to resolve. Can Adobe Support get involved if the community is unable to answer?? These seems ridiculous! Please help!! I'm a step away from a total sob fest since I would lose multiple days of work.

Step 1) Previews not available when they usually are

2)

This is the version I'm on. When I say check for updates, it states I'm currently up to date.

it is because you are using LR 5. that camera is not supported in LR 5. You need to use the newest Free Adobe DNG converter program to convert the CR2 files to DNG files. Then you can import the DNG files into LR.

Thank you Just Shoot Me! I actually just hung up the phone with Support and 2 hours later learned the same thing . Luckily, I have access to an Enterprise license through work and was able to upgrade to the CC. I had no idea my version of Lightroom wasn't supported! I'm surprised that .CR files are so new? Is that the right terminology? Thanks again for the help! Hopefully with this thread closing, others will be able to find help if using an unsupported version of Lightroom.

It's not CR2 files. It is the CAMERA model. When a new camera comes out for any manufacturer Adobe has to add support for it to see and edit the RAW files. If you had shot JPGs they would of imported.

LR 5 hasn't gotten any updates for several years now. No updates, No new camera support.

Once Adobe comes out with a new version they do not support, update, older versions.
