Yesterday I updated my Lightroom classic to the latest version - Now the masking function don't work

Yesterday I updated my Lightroom classic both catalogue and program. Now the masking function does not work. When I do a mask and then choose an option to affect the image my option affects the whole image. If I want to use a mask I have to open the image in photoshop and Camera Raw. Very irritating. I work on a Mac Book Pro Ventura 13.0.1.
Many thanks for a quick reply how to solve this issue.

Sounds like the mask panel is collapsed, so you are moving the global sliders thinking these are the mask sliders. Click on the small triangle next to 'Effect'.

We'll need a little more information on the machine. Go to Help>System Info and copy & paste to a reply.

Also check the Performance tab of Preferences/Settings and let us know what the GPU setting says.

I am having the same exact problem, and a few other things with the mask function. I didn't notice anything change after clicking on the triangle next to "Effects" in the main panel. Please help. I can't edit anything.

In order for the mask to show changes you must do all three of these things:

  • if the triangle to the right of effect is not pointed downward, click on the triangle to the right of effect so it is pointed downward (not pointed left as shown)
  • click on the specific mask so it is highlighted
  • move one of the sliders or other tools for masking (not the sliders or tools under Basic)

Yes!!! You were right! I was on the global panels. Now I found where to get hold of the mask panels. Many Thanks! 🙂
