P: UPDATE popup won't go away

Can't figure out how to get rid of the brown popup that will not move. Asking me to update PS.

I have the same problem. can't remove it have tried removing all notifications in CC but nothing helps. I was hoping Adobe would come up with a solution so I don't have to buy a whole new computer.

Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Curious if you have gone into Creative Cloud and tried updating Ps Beta, is this possible for you?

Hi The latest beta update requires me to upgrade my mac's operating system to Mac os Big sur. My computer can handle Mac os Catalina well but it can't handle Mac osBig sur.

It was not possible to make a Copy/Paste to reply when I had copied the text and pasted it, the reply message interpreted it as spam text.

Hi @Pp301153929odi this is part of using the beta software - there is a new version out and so this version is deprecated and should no longer be used. There is no way to remove this unless you upgrade your beta version.

Hello,

Today I got a brownish-colored popup in PS beta saying "Time to update! It has been five weeks since this Prerelease build was released. Please install the latest build via Creative Cloud to stay up-to-date with features and fixes." It then provides a link to "See Prerelease Announcements Online" but the link simply brings me to the adobe.com landing page.

So, that's fine I'm happy updating. The problem is that according to CC everything is up to date. No matter how many times I try to check for updates, I can't find any. I've reset all of the apps, I've logged out of CC and logged back in, still nothing. Restarted the computer, basically all of the steps that you'd take to try to resolve something like this.

Now, normally I would just shrug my shoulders and close the popup and figure it was a server error and try again later. The problem is, it is impossible to close the popup. It's permanent. What's worse is that I can't even *move* it on the screen and simply work around it. I'm now just stuck unable to use Beta and unable to update.

Infuriating to say the least.

Hmm, this didn't work for me. Are you using a Mac? It briefly disappears while *dragging* the menu bar but immediately reappears in the same sport when you stop moving the window. Simply clicking on the menu bar does nothing on my end. Thanks for the reply though!

There was a new beta release today -- see if you Check for Updates in the Updates section of CC Desktop, and/or Look in the Beta apps section. The latest version is 24.7 build 2223 (specifically: Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.7.0 20230628.m.2223)

Hi Pete, thanks for the info, good to know. Nope, no matter how I approach it it's not showing updates anywhere. Maybe it's a server propagation thing, I'll keep trying throughout the day. This is definitely a pretty annoying bug in the meantime though, especially as we all get used to the Beta workflow - it feels strange to have to "downgrade" so to speak to the public release.

@james25714136yrcc another thing to try is to log out of CCD, restart the computer, then log back into CCD and then click on the check for updates and see if that pulls it down.

Ah @james25714136yrcc it appears you have an edu account, please contact your schools IT and make sure they are allowing the update. Admins have the ability to block betas as well as updates and there is a setting they can turn on to allow them. Feel free to send them this:

No that's not the problem - I'm off campus for the summer so I'm on an independent network. And my Cloud subscription is entirely independent from the school's IT department - I personally pay for the account, I just sign in via my university email address.

Sorry for the frustration @james25714136yrcc , it seems this wouldn't be admin related.

For some reason we're not yet sure of, you're unable to see the latest beta updates.

Here are a few suggestions that hopefully can help:

I assume you're using a 24.6 version of Photoshop beta -- If you uninstall Photoshop beta, and then go back into CC Desktop, does a 24.7 version show as able to be installed? Or does it still only show 24.6?
If you click the 3 dots next to Photoshop beta in CC desktop and choose "Other versions" do you have an option for 24.7?
I would be curious then if an uninstall and reinstall of the creative cloud desktop app helps at all?

Try some of those suggestions out and please let us know if any of them resolve this issue for you. Sorry for the trouble!
