P: 24.1 - Where has Delete and Fill context menu gone?

I just updated photo shop today two version 24.1 and I have noticed delete and fill has been removed. This is really disheartening because it works so much better than content aware fill. Normally you can right click on the selection to access this, but I have looked through all the menus and have not found it since this update.

The new feature delete and fill selection doesn't show up when i select something. I have the latest version of PS. How can i fix that?

Ok now what I would like to know is what is the actual different between Delete and Fill and Content Aware Fill?   I'll wait for a fix yet I would like to understand how the program treats the two differently?

Delete and fill is so much better, it removes the selection and replaces it with the background with one click.

@creative_being8551 how does it choose the background?  Seems to me its just Content Aware without any user input.  Like autopilot or more the AI implementation.

That's exactly what it is. Let's say you a image of a ball on the street, when you make a seceltion of the ball and then press delete and fill, PS removes the ball and creates the street instead of the ball. So it's like content aware but much more effective.

Dopo l'aggiornamento di Photoshop 24.1 non si riesce più ad applicare due fuzioni:

1. MODIFICA - Elimina e riempi la Selezione

2. FINESTRA - Materiali ( esiste ancora il nome, ma non si apre più la finestra)

Perchè?????

Con questo Aggiornamento 24.1 non esiste più ELIMINA e RIEMPI e non si apre più la Finestra MATERIALI. Entrambi erano molto utilizzati ed apprezzati e non ne capisco il motivo........ come si fa a ripristinarli????

I have the same problem, and SHIFT+DELETE doesnt solve it, it just brigs up the fill box. Content aware takes too long for my purpose.

@D.Calafato please open a new thread regarding your issue with the Materials panel. Your original post was merged with the first issue regarding Delete and Fill.

The new feature is contextual - it depends on what tool you are using to make the selection.

Simply use the Object Selection Tool to make your selection and use the following keyboard shortcut to remove it:

• macOS: Shift + Delete
• Windows: Shift + Backspace

If you're working with the Lasso Tool or any other Photoshop tool, right-click the mouse to access the contextual menu and select Delete and Fill Selection to delete unwanted objects from your image.

If you do Shift+Delete with a regular selection tool (Not Object) it will bring up the Fill Menu.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer yes we all believe that's supposed to happen, yet for many of us it isn't.  I just selected an object and the fill dialog came up with Shift-Delete on my Mac, and there is no item in the Context Menu.

I'm not experiencing the same issues here is my process using current Photoshop builds (not beta):

Using Object Selection Tool, make selection.

Hit Shift+Delete while the object is selected and Delete and Fill runs without a prompt:

With a regular selction tool (in this case the rectangular marquee) select your area and then right-click the selection to bring up the contextual menu:

Area fills as expected.

@D.Calafato Did you try rolling back to 24.0 if 24.1 is causing the issue?

@Kevin Stohlmeyer - yes that was covered in the thread but that’s not what some people want, as they want the other updates/changes/improvements. They want 24.1 to work correctly.
