This is a bug. Please don't move it to the Discussions tab.

And please don't merge into another unrelated thread. I will report a bug with this thread.

------------------------------------

I made a YouTube video using a keyboard mouse overlay to show what action I'm taking. I hope you can refer to refer to it.

https://youtu.be/Cle6dEgP5_Y

------------------------------------

I was disappointed that there were so many bugs that were not fixed in 24.5, but I was still trying to give it a shot.

However, this bug is pretty serious. Really...

Please see the video I attached.
If you watch the video, you will see that I am shaking the screen.
I'm not using a hand tool, it should release automatically, but that thing is sticky.

To release this sticky, pinned handtool, you'll need to make one more unconditional click.

Here's how I've organized them for your reference.

< What I can be sure of >

  1. Window10 (Tested a total of 14 PCs)
  2. Use WacomTablet
  3. Not related to preferences at all (Especially not related to Spring loaded, Flick panning stuff things)
  4. I've tried all the known Photoshop troubleshooting methods and no improvement.
  5. Even reinstalling Windows does the same thing
  6. Only in 24.5 does this bug occur with certainty. I can't reproduce it at all in earlier versions.

I'm not sure about the >

  1. Mac OS not tested
  2. I couldn't even test if it was a GPU company difference. I and my team all use NVIDIA

And while there are a few threads pointing this out, there doesn't seem to be a proper plan to fix it.

If this is not fixed in 24.6, 24.6 will be equally unusable as 24.5.

We wanted to update this thread that the issue was fixed with the release of 25.6. If you are still having this issue with the most recent Ps version, please start a new thread with your information so the team can investigate further.

Thanks,

Cory - Photoshop Product Manager

The following cleared the problem.
Incidentally, the problem occurred even after reverting back to 24.4.1, so it may occur regardless of the version.

(1)Uninstall Photoshop (delete preferences as well)
 ※Backup " \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023Roaming".
(2) Installed Photoshop 24.6.
 ※The problem was not fixed.

(3)Uncheck [Use graphics processor].

(4) Operate appropriately with Ctrl+Space+Left mouse (zoom) or Alt+Right mouse (brush size change), etc. →No problem. (However, the operation is slow.) → No problem.
Open the "Distortion" filter. (But it works slowly.)
 Close the "Distortion" filter.

(5) Check the "Use graphics processor" checkbox again.
(6) Restart Photoshop.
★It now works without any problems.
※After this, there was no problem even after reverting the backed up preferences.

Based on the above, it is likely that Photoshop is repeatedly updating itself, causing some problem with loading the graphics processor and slowing down its performance.
It may be possible to fix the problem by doing steps (3) through (6) above, turning off the graphics processor, manipulating the "distortion" filter, which is primarily used by the graphics processor, as appropriate, and then turning it back on.

I am going to wait and see with this for a while.

I would be happy if as many people as possible could get it fixed before 24.7 fixes it.

@Nik Hagialas Of course, we realize that these bugs are not intentional. But for those of us who actually use Photoshop for a living, these bugs can be really frustrating.

@Matias29988476et9e Well done, hopefully this routine of recommending downgrades to each other is now broken.

@MathiaArkoniel I've reinstalled my Windows OS dozens of times to test this. This is clearly a 24.5 and 24.6 issue, not a user issue. It's not a matter of turning some options on and off.
It's not a matter of turning any options on or off, because this bug happens even if you just reinstalled Windows OS and installed Photoshop and didn't touch anything, so it's something that's already built into the release installation that's causing the bug. It's not your fault.

@gendrix13 If you've rolled back (downgraded) to a previous version of 24.5 and still encounter the bug, try forcing a reset of your preferences.
The installers for 24.5 and 24.6 seem to pollute the configuration, and we expect that to reproduce the bug in other versions.

@mohamed24324369 Is this a new beta 24.7? The 24.7 I tested some time ago had the same issue.

Hallo zusammen,

Danke schonmal

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

Well, I was not expecting any improvement. But this DID work for me. So far. I have only tried it on one image. And it is early in the day. I will get back later. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I did first try the 24.7 Beta. Without doing these steps, it also had the sticky hand tool. But after doing these steps, it goes away. Very odd. But it works for me.

I wasn't trying to "recommend" a version. I implied I installed all versions down from 24.6 and the issue happens consistantly in every one of them but 24.1.1. I didn't see anybody pinpoint the exact version in which the issue starts happening, and it seemed a valid point.

Have you tried reseting preferences what can solve weird problems sometimes. Save any unsaved preset and actions before attempting to reset prefs https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

I've been using it all morning, with no problem with the hand tool, after
doing these things. Hope it stays this way.

@Jqqerry Yes, the latest beta version is still called 24.7.0 In System Info, it says Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.7.0 20230628.m.2223 0770f83 x64

There was an update to that version a couple days ago. I've been using it since yesterday, and haven't experienced that bug.

Still no fix. And now the bug somehow affects even previous versions. Also zero communication from Adobe about this. Classy.

If you arent seeing an available update in the Creative Cloud desktop app - uninstall the currently installed beta and restart your computer. Go back to Creative Cloud desktop app and check for the latest beta update and install from there.

Can confirm. I downgraded and the bug persists on version 24.3. It's awful. Wish we could get a fix.

Here is what I did yesterday. It worked for me and my other team member and we use the Wacom tablets and mouse on a PC. I'm not to tech savvy but I hope this works for those of you still frustrated.

Update to the newest photoshop and close out
Open - C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023\Adobe Photoshop 2023 Settings
Cut and paste – “Adobe Photoshop 2023 Prefs.psp” to your desktop
Keep this folder open as you’ll come back to it.
Open PS and go to Edit – Preferences – Performance and Uncheck [Use graphics processor] and click OK.

Open old file or creat a new one.

Then go to Filter – Distort and open any of the filters and then Close by “Xing” out in the top right corner. – I did not select OK.
Check the "Use graphics processor" checkbox again close PS
Cut and paste from the desktop – “Adobe Photoshop 2023 Prefs.psp” Back into the folder on your C Drive
Restart photoshop and hopefully this is the fix!

May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor!

Forgot to mention I am not using the beta version, I'm using 24.6.

Also replace the file when you get back into the C drive.

Where do I download the fixed version of this? I've been struggling for months. Please give me a fixed version of this. Is this an unresponsive subject?

It hasn't been a few months since I bought and installed Photoshop, and I was told to install an older version as soon as I bought it.
It's very absurd. It shows a performance that does not fit the curriculum I am learning at all. I tell my teacher that the space bar is fixed, and she asks me to install the previous version.
I can't imagine what program's curriculum could tell you to install the previous version.

I had to go back to 23.5.5.  Anything in version 24 is now having this issue. Is Adobe saying anything about this at all?

Is this not discussed now?
Is it going well? Why aren't you answering?
When will the fixed version be released?
How many more months do I have to wait?
