P: Photoshop 23.2.2 Can't open/update vector smart object in Illustrator

Community Beginner ,
Mar 14, 2022 Mar 14, 2022

Just today, I updated to macOS Monterey and now I am having problems opening vector smart objects in Photoshop files. If Illustrator is closed, when I double click the smart object (or choose edit contents) Illustrator will launch but the file will not open.

If Illustrator is open and I try to open the smart object, I get a Mac error window that says "The application "Adobe Illustrator 2022" can't be opened" with a -1703 error code.

I'm using Photoshop 23.2.1 and Illustrator 26.0.3, which I went back to after seeing the problem first occur in 26.1.

The computer is iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch 2019  |  3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9  |  macOS Monterey 12.3

Thanks in advance

This should be resolved in macOS 12.3.1 that just went out.

Même problème, exactement. J'ai résolu provisoirement en cochant "ajouter à ma biliothèque actuelle" lors de la conversion en objet dynamique. Entre ça et la disparution des icones des fichiers eps… Apple commence vraiment à nous gonfler sévère !

Thank you for reporting the fix from Apple, Jeffrey. Seventeen days for them to fix this is impressive!

Thanks Jeffrey, this has been driving me crazy. I didn't realize how much I relied on smart object until they would not open. this is an issue from photoshop and dimensios for me.

Has anyone seen this update in the wild yet?

Did you look in Apple menu > System Prefs > Software Update?

FINALLY!!
macOS 12.3.1 latest update just release a few hours ago fixed the bug! So it was apparently Apple's fault, not Adobe...

To echo what others have said, the macOS update to 12.3.1 fixed it for me as well.

Thanks Adobe or Apple or whoever got this done, it will be nice to have it working again.

Is this new update really safe? Or will it brick my MacMini like 12.3 did?

It's always a best practice to make a system backup before updating your OS, but this question is best asked on the Apple forums or directly to Apple support.

Thank you @J453 for the heads up today about the 12.3.1 release. Thanks to the Adobe engineers for anything they were able to assist the Apple team with in regards to the macOS bug (and lets face it, there have been more, more frequently over the last few years). While I've been able to identify and report bugs to Apple I've had to wait much longer than a couple weeks to get Apple to address so whatever weight Adobe was able to put behind getting the fix is extremely appreacited.

Here's to the next time we all come together over a bug, CHEERS!

Estou com um objeto inteligente de ilustrator no photoshop, e quando clico nele para fazer uma edição, ele me dá um erro e não abre o ilustrator. Estou com a ultima versão instalada.
