P: PS 26.3 Drag image from PS to Ai does not complete

I cant drag an image from my open ps file to my open ai file.  I used to be able to drag things no problem.  However, now, when I drop it in ai, it has the green plus sign but nothing happens?  Is this a bug in Ps version 26.3?

    Thank you! The unhelpful grumps in IT recently updated me to PSD 2025, and after a frustrating couple of days, I just gave this a try. It worked for me, as well.

    • Checked and unchecked the Export Clipboard option in Photoshop's preferences.

      this one did it for me !

    I agree that would be a good solution (copy and paste) how ever I am also no longer able to do that.  I can copy and paste illustrator - > photoshop but not the other way around. I have reverted my photoshop to an older version and that fixed it

    Hi Bichler. Although we all appreciate your condescending personal opinions, as an extremely seasoned user I beg to differ. I do agree there are obvious times when placing an image is clearly the best solution, but in the fast-paced phase of concept development there's no time for saving out files then properly placing them into the document. For example when pixel images are developed in PSD and then dumped into illustrator for an image trace. There's no reason to burden the process with additional steps. It's a simple copy / paste.

      what did you do to fix it? so annoying I cant drag and drop into illustrator anymore from photoshop

      @Sameer K , there's my System Info.

      The problem was also observed in the beta version.  (26.4.0 20250201.m.2961 5454ac8 arm64)

       

      I have not done any troubleshooting. I also do not provide videos.
      This is not a rebuke, but a genuine question, but are those necessary no matter how simple the explanation is?

      Hello,

       

      I am unable to copy/cut then paste shapes, vector images, and raster images from Photoshop to Illustrator. However, I have no problem copy/pasting from Illustrator to Photoshop.

       

      The export clipboard preference is enabled in Photoshop.

        Thanks for the reports, @Quevestria, @kzoh002, and @9360281 gunsmith. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

         

        Does it behave as mentioned after a specific set of steps? What troubleshooting steps have you tried already?

        Also, please test and confirm if the issue exists with Photoshop (Beta). You can get Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section. 

         

        I've looped in @Anshul_Saini from the Adobe Illustrator community to help verify this.

        I had a similar issue, but I was able to resolve it by reverting my Photoshop version from 26.3 to 26.2.

         

        I hope the above steps will resolve your issue.

          There was no difference in behavior on macOS 15.1.0 and 14.7.2.
          At the moment it seems to be an issue that only occurs in Photoshop 26.3.0.
          It does not occur in 26.2.0.
