After updating to Photoshop Version 26.9 from version 26.8.1, I've experienced some annoying bugs.

The issues I'm having are:

1. Eyedropper Tool picking arbitrary areas.
2.  Zoom in (Control + Spacebar) zooms in two to three levels instead of one
3.  Roaming image with Spacebar is very choppy not smooth.

I reinstalled back to v26.8.1 everything is fine. No issues 

My Dell PC is: OptiPlex 7090, 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700T @ 1.40GHz (1.39 GHz), 32 GB RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 750, Windows 11 Pro

Since the most recent Photoshop update, when I use the shortcuts Ctrl+ and Ctrl- to zoom in and out, Photoshop performs an extreme zoom out or zoom in. It zooms out so far that the canvas appears as a tiny pixel, and zooms in so much that I can only see the individual pixels of the canvas I'm working on.

I’ve already tried adjusting the zoom settings, but it didn’t help. Zooming with the mouse wheel works fine, but it's not as comfortable or precise as using the keyboard shortcuts.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Hi @MLip! I haven’t been able to reproduce any of these issues on my end so far.

As a first step, I’d recommend trying to reset your Photoshop preferences, that can often clear up unexpected behavior. It’s also a good idea to check if there are any updates available for your graphics card, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues.

Hi Aleke! Thanks for helping me. Yes, I already reset Photoshop’s preferences, but the problem remains. I was able to confirm that if I enable Photoshop to use my graphics card, the issue gets fixed — but if I disable it, the problem continues.

The thing is, I used to work with the graphics card disabled and had no issues with the zoom before. This only started happening after the latest update.

It's a bit difficult to record and send a video, but basically, when I press Ctrl- just once, it zooms out to 0%, and when I press Ctrl+ once, it zooms in to 100%.

Even though activating the graphics card now solves the problem, I’ve always worked with it disabled (since it’s a 2011 card and causes performance issues with some programs), and the zoom used to work just fine in that setup.

The same problem. When you press Ctrl and + or - to zoom using the keyboard shortcuts, the zooming stops only when you stop pressing Ctrl which is super annoying.
I usually work in that way that I press (and hold) Ctrl key and then will press "+" required amount of times to enlarge the image. For example, to enlarge from 50% to 100%, I press Ctrl, hold it, press the "+" twice and it is enlarged. I am usually still holding the Ctrl key as one may never know, if it really is 100% which was needed (to check it on the display down left, where the magnification is shown), but the new version of Photoshop still continues to enlarge the image because I am still holding the Ctrl key in order to check if I was off with estimating amount of "+" presses, how many enlarging steps I need. If I press "+" twice, the image should be enlarged in two steps, not five just because I am still holding the Crtl key. It should react to "+" presses not the time when "Ctrl" is pressed.

I can reproduce this on my machine (Windows 11, Photoshop 26.9). But only if I use the + and - key on the num block of my keyboard. The "normal" + and - keys working as it should. I'm using a keyboard with a German layout.

I’ve tried reproducing the issue by disabling the graphics card and using the + and - keys on the num pad, but no luck so far on my end. I have that exact issue also.

Applies to the latest version of Photoshop (26.9.0).

To be more specific: when using the Ctrl key with the NUMPAD +/- Photoshop keeps zooming (back and forth) like crazy. Even after letting go +/- key. When using the REGULAR +/- keys, it behaves as usual.

That's the first issue. The second problem is the actual size view – when I press shortcut for it, Photoshop adjusts the view according to the shortcut used and immediately jumps to the "fit to window view". The problem also occurs only when using the numpad key. With regular "0" works as usual.

Checked on Win 10/11, two different PC's and with three keyboards. After restoring the previous version of PS, everything returns to normal.

After photoshop's 2025 last update in windows 10 zoom is not working properly in photoshop with ctrl+ and ctrl-.

Insted of zooming from 33% to 50% to 66% to 100% etc, it jumps on step and goes from 33% to 66% to 200% etc.

For anyone with the issue, as a workaround, try hiding the contextual task bar
