Hi,

I'm aware there's a colour blindness accessibility function in Photoshop however, I'm wondering if there some sort of filter that sits on top of images that provides accessibility for those who are colour blind?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone for your answers. Unfortunately I have 200 maps that were not made using these colourblind features and I now need something to sit over these images to make them colourblind friendly without having to change colours within the maps.

You will likely need to use adjustment layers such as hue and saturation, channel mixer, selective colour or more extensive editing perhaps using Lab mode or whatever gets you the end result you are looking for. This can all be batched using actions once you have decided on the correct series of edits. There are different types and levels of “colour blindness” and you may have to make a compromise between colour blind viewers and standard viewers. The softproof feature may help you get there. Good luck.

I suggest you check out a free iPhone app "Color Blind Pal" that was mentioned in a New York Times piece this past week (about Feb 5, 2019).

Letter of Recommendation: Color Blind Pal - The New York Times

Download the app and print out the instructions. It provides settings for viewing via each type of color blindness.

Edit: By the way, if you plan to do any testing of. potential employee, it also mentions the Ishihara color blind test material but I have found that a later one, the Hardy Rand Rittler pseudoisochromatic set to be superior.

Photoshop supports CUD through its soft-proofing features, which can simulate color blindness. This feature allows the designer to see what the image will look like for people with different types of color blindness, such as protanopia and deuteranopia. Color blindness simulation makes it easier to create accessible signage and other artwork.

Thanks,
