Neural filters failing with box saying color engine issue

when i use a neural filter i get a error message saying 

Could not complete the Neural Filters command because of a problem using the Adobe Color Engine

 

m1 mac running latest version of ventura and Photoshop in apple silicon version.

I was able to fix this issue when I changed CMYK to RGB mode. It appeared neural can't work with cmyk (and doesn't provide a relevant meaningful error message either)

    Was happening to me too when trying to process images not in RGB color mode.

      First, try disabling GPU in the Photoshop preferences (Performance tab). Also try the Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable "Older GPU mode (pre 2016)" - Restart Photoshop.. Any better?
