Opening IA cloud files in Photoshop

I have a folder in "creative cloud" with both AI files and Photoshop files. When in Photoshop and I choose to open an AI file, they do not appear, only my photoshop file. I want to edit my AI files and save as gif. Thank you!

Another reason you may not be seeing the .ai files is they are actualy .aic files for cloud use like photoshop saves .psdc files for cloud use and i guess adobe wants specific cloud document types only opened in their native applications, although illustrator can places .psdc files from photoshop.

Thank you! I still don't get it. From photoshop I'm able to open saved Illustrator AI, EPS or PDF files from my desktop, but not Creative Cloud.

Hi!

What version of Photoshop are you using?

Photoshop can't open .ai files directly (only as a rasterized PDF). You may need to download it to local disk and open it as a smart object.

Why don't you open in Illustrator and export to GIF there? Export As doesn't seem to output GIF from Illustrator, but Save For Web still does.

Admittedly, I don't do cloud and this is how it behaves here on local files.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I don't understand. I have photoshop open and choose open file, I am able to view and open AI or EPS files that are on my desktop or flash drive, but can't from Creative Cloud....hmm Anyway thank you
