Photoshop now zooms to center of artboard instead of where I am viewing.

For some reason, recently....photoshop now zooms in and out to the center of the artboard.  This is not behavior that makes any sense or is needed.  Wasting a lot of time on this.  Im paying 70 bucks a month this shouldnt be a stupid issue I need it to work properly like it used too.

 

Animated Zoom ON/OFF doesnt work

Zoom clicked to center ON/OFF does not work

Zoom resizes window (need this option ON)

Zoom with scroll wheel (this works but the window doesnt resize...so it doesnt work)

 

Why are these behaviors different now?

 

I need a zoom in/out to stay focused on the area im working on and NOT default to the center of the artboard.  That is such a stupid behavior.  Just stupid.

 

PS version: 26.9.0

Hi @defaultmjob26srh3rv, Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community! I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with Photoshop. A screen recording would be beneficial to get a clearer idea of this. You can share via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another public file-sharing platform with your response.

 

While this can happen for many reasons, you can try these fixes to see if they resolve the issue.

 

1) Reset the Zoom tool: Right-click on the Zoom tool (magnifying lens) and click on reset tool

 

2) Uncheck Overscroll: Go to Edit > Preferences > Tools and disable Overscroll. This resolves most centering issues after zooming.

 

3) Hide the contextual bar: Hiding this bar can restore normal zoom behavior.

 

4) Use the top-row + and - keys instead of the numeric keypad for zooming.

 

5) Reset the preferences: It is recommended to back them up first. For steps and more information, please check out this HelpX article: Preferences in Photoshop

Seems like this fixed the behavior:

2) Uncheck Overscroll: Go to Edit > Preferences > Tools and disable Overscroll. 

 

Thanks for your time and effort for responding.

Feels a LOT better working in there now.
