Save As.. now forcing me to Save A Copy for PNGs/JPGs Terrible QoL change in PS update lmao
Anyone know how to revert the "Save As.." functionality back to what it was in previous versions of Photoshop? (Yanno, the way it's worked for over a decade?) I'm on Windows 10 Pro on the 24.6.0 release of Photoshop 2023 that came out last week.
This is a terrible, pointless change, which impacts my quality of life while using photoshop and I'm extremely mad about it. I'm not looking for any troubleshooting beyond pointing me in the direction to the option that lets me switch it back to how it worked before, or getting Adobe to add the option to revert the functionality. I will only snark at you if you try to troubleshoot me different solutions lmao.
The new update is forcing me to "Save A Copy" instead of just using "Save As.." to generate PNGs or JPEGs from my PSD files. Which is fine, but "Save a Copy" adds 'copy' to the end of the filename by default and now I have to edit that out of the filename instead of selecting my filetype and hitting save. This is literally the stupidest thing in the entire world. It's not even smart enough to clear out 'copy' when you change the file format lmao. I can see people wanting the 'copy' added no matter the file format, but it's a massive inconvenience for me, and I don't even WANT to be using "Save A Copy" in the first place. There is never ever, EVER going to be a chance of accidentally overwriting a PSD with a PNG of the same name. That's not how file extensions work.
I realize I can use the "Export As.." function and it won't do that, but it's also like three clicks down the menu tree, and it opens up additional windows with settings I don't need. So why would I ever have done that before when "Save As.." is on the top layer of the menu tree and quickly did the thing that I wanted it to?
