Remove the "save a copy" button! Please make it like in the old version with the "save as" button.

The new IMPROVEMENT messes up the saving function.

Saving now takes a lot longer than usual. In addition, the copy is not saved in the folder where the open PSD file is located, but in previously opened folders.

There is absolutely nothing Adobe can do about this.

Apple removed the API that allowed Photoshop to strip "-copy" from the filename. With the new API, Photoshop is forced to finalize the base filename before entering the Save dialog. That filename has to contain "-copy", because it is a copy. If it wasn't a copy, your original file would have to be overwritten as a flat 8 bit file acceptable to the jpeg specification.

And no, Photoshop can't just write its own filename into the dialog. You can do that, an application cannot, not on its own. That's basic IT security.

This is not a bug or mistake, but a deliberate policy from Apple. Microsoft may well follow suit and adopt the same policy.

What's really interesting about this claim, is that if you go into your settings and enable legacy 'save as,' it allows you to save without adding "copy." So Photoshop CAN do this even with Apple's changes, but for some reason doesn't want to develop a method so users can have the choice not to have "copy" added.

Blame Apple not Adobe (the PC version has been changed also so they are aligned with the Mac version).
