Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 - Refund - how much time do I have?

How many days after purchasing APE2024 I can ask for refund?

I'm simply tired with various problems and issues I have with that software.
I'm not going to contact Adobe support with every single problem as this process takes too long, especially if they ignore this community forum. I don’t understand what the point is of using tags such as ‘Error or problem’ or ‘Feature request’ if nobody from Adobe responds to them….

Thank you for information. It means that I have a few more days. If they don't update the app I will ask for refund.

In this current form Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 is not better than Adobe Premiere Elements 2021, which I own and which has its own problems never fixed.

Not a big issue but moving sliders in APE2024 is not as smooth as in previous versions 2021. This is something difficult to show in a video

Moreover, can you finally allow users to change default size of the preview window so that we do not have to resize each time we open it?

I’ve tried to describe each problem in detail and also added a short video or print screen showing each problem.

I’ve been using Premiere Elements since version 2013 which I bought in November 2014. Currently I have installed ver. 2021 and 2024 on my computer

My config is following
CPU: Intel 9900K 8C/16T
GPU: NVIDIA 4060Ti (most recent studio driver)
RAM: 32GB
Drives: 3x SSD 1x HDD
Monitor: Full HD
Windows 10 (with all updates)

- We have not observed the issues with OpenGOP HEVC files. please share few OpenGOP & ClosedGOP files you are using and the issue you are seeing with them

- Sharing a workaround for this

Unlink video and audio in the clip (clip: just right before the intentional gap)
right-click the audio track (only) and select "Delete"
Select all clips before the clip selected in step 1 and then choose "Delete audio" or "keyboard delete button".
The intentional gap would remain.

Preview Window - can’t change size of the bar

- There are multiple issues here.

1. Zoom & Scroll can still be done in Clip Monitor. The handles are not visible. You can click on the ends above the workbar area. Will log a ticket for this.
2. App should remember the last size of clip monitor

3. Set the default size of Clip Monitor

Last two are a feature request. will raise a ticket for these as well

- This functionality was added in PRE2022. Yellow line means that rendering is not required but user can still render if they want to. You will get an orange line if you apply a non-GPU effect. Orange line means that rendering is required.

The performance results that you are getting on your high end machine is surprising. Share the PRE projects directly with me. Will see what is the issue there. Please share (OpenGOP & ClosedGop) HEVC files too

You can use Handbrake to convert to 4K HEVC file. None of the files converted to 4K HEVC with Handbrake was working well in APE. I recodred the issue and put it on youtube.

I had that issue many times when working with HEVC files. Never with H.264. It happens when I work with 4K, my project is 4K and and export to 4K.

Surprisingly, everything is fine when I export 4K project to 1080.

Again, I created video showing that issue.

All sliders are a bit sluggish. It is quite subjective feeling so difficult to show.

I've used APE since the first version, and I would have returned the 2023 version if I could. I waited for the 2024 version and was so disapointed, that I didn't even buy it. I started looking for another editor, and really didn't want to learn something else, but I switched to Powerdirector 365. The anual subscription turned out cheaper than the cost of APE! Turns out it really didn't take as long to learn and was very intuitive, and it is more comparible to Adobe Premier Pro than APE. It has a ton more features than APE. The AI is amazing, and renders/exports in a tenth of the time it takes Adobe. Just something you might want to look at.

Thank you for your comment. I've never used Powerdirector. I like APE for its simplicity, stability and very good output quality, but constant issues are very frustrating. I’ll try Powerdirector.

What I found is one of the best feature is that if you have a dedicated NVIDIA card (which I saw that you have), PD365 is exclusively optimized to fully use the GPU for rapid decoding of your input files and GPU exceleration of the exports. Makes it really fast at rendering, scrubbing, etc. But, I know where you are coming from. I too loved APE untill they simply never really improve it and everyone else is leaving them behind. I mean Dark Mode is a new feature? lol, who hasen't had that for years?!? Even DaVinci Resolve 18.6 (the new version) is completely free and has more funtionality than APE including online collaberation with others on the same project, but in my opionion, for $55 anually, you cannot beat the features in PowerDirector 365 overall.

Also, just a note since you have a NVIDIA card, you might consider using the nvidia Studio Driver instead of the Game Ready Driver. You can choose between the too under your GeForce Experiance app and intall only one or the other. The Studio Driver is optimized for creative editing and is more stable for video editing software and may resolve bug issues where as the Game Ready drivers are released more often and can cause issues in editing software. Just a note.

Yes, I have Nvidia card and GPU acceleration in video editing programs was one of the main reasons of buying it. I’m very disappointed that GPU acceleration wasn’t really improved in APE since ver 2021. As far as I know they added GPU acceleration to some effects and transitions that year and nothing was added after that (is that correct?) And still I can’t use EVEnc for encoding.

I can't really say after 2021, but I bought the 2022 and 2023 version, and I never noticed any improvement and it just took too long for rendering. After I started using PowerDirector, I thought something might be wrong with the rendering (export) because it went so fast, but it was perfect. Now, I can make changes, export it, and make changes again and re-export without dreading it taking hours like APE used too. On exporting in PowerDirector, there is a checkbox at the bottom that is not checked by default that uses the NVIDIA acceleration for rendering. So, you have to enable it.

I’ve decided to ask for refund. I haven’t abandoned APE completely as I still have APE2021. Unfortunately, none of the issues I have with APE2021 was fixed in APE2024 and there are even new ones. In addition, the new features of the APE2024 are useless for me. I will try to use PowerDirector for some time. My initial impressions are mixed but I need to spend more time with it. It has some interesting features but I have some issues with quality after colour correction. But this is not PD forum so I will not describe them here.

Yeah, there is a learning curve for sure, and after about 100 hours using it, you get more familiar. And, I'm not saying PD is the solution to everything either. For instance, the scrubbing is much better in APE, but you cannot beat the wind removal and Dialiog enhancements in PD either. Wish we could combine all the good features, but I don't think APE is worth twice the cost of PD. Not for the features.
