We’re pleased to announce a host of enhancements in the latest release of Premiere Pro Beta version 25.3.0.48:
- Automatic Data Range Detection For DNxHR/DNxHD and PNG: When importing DNxHR/DNxHD (via MXF) and PNG files into the project bin, Premiere Pro automatically detects, interprets, and applies the correct data range—whether it’s narrow/legal/video or full/extended—by reading the embedded metadata.
- Bit Depth Agnostic: Data range handling works seamlessly across all bit depths for the above supported formats.
- Preserving Super-Whites & Sub-Blacks: Premiere Pro preserves super-whites and sub-blacks in the color pipeline when importing narrow/legal/video range files with out of bounds signal ranges.
- Color Metadata Handling with CICP support: The color spaces of PNG stills with CICP-tagged color metadata are now automatically used by Premiere Pro color management..
- Export Side Enhancements: When exporting to DNxHR/DNxHD MXF or PNG, users can select the appropriate ‘Export Color Space’ by navigating to: Export Settings > VIDEO > More. This allows for better control over color management and ensures compatibility with specific delivery requirements.

When exporting to PNG, users can now turn on ‘Include Mastering Display and Color Light Level Metadata’ under Export Settings > VIDEO > More. Enabling this activates the ‘Mastering Display Color Volume’ and ‘Content Light Levels’ sections, allowing users to select the options appropriately.

We hope you find these improvements useful additions to your workflow. Give them a try and don't hesitate to give us any feedback you have.
