Mogrt and AE Templates Cause Crash

Community Beginner ,
Feb 18, 2025 Feb 18, 2025

All third party mogrt's and after affect video template's cause immediate crash on both Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Specs:

-M2 Ultra Mac Studio, 15.3.1
-Premiere Pro .v25.1 and all v.24's
-After Effects v.25.1

Here is what happens:

After installing mogrt's, just afterputting it onto timeline, Premiere Pro crashes and closes itself.
As for AE template, all aep files or project files that have been created by video template developers wont work. The project wont load up, crashes or if I drag the aep's to the project itself, it crashes as well and shut itself down.
What I have tried so far:
-I viped out/deleted all of the graphic template files alongside with both programs wit their preferences and install again. I used cleaner tool as well.
-I tried to add mogrt's in all possible ways. I dragged them into graphic templates panel, manually copied pasted to the mac's path (.../Application support/Adobe/Common/Motion.../). The motion graphic panel shows their thumbnail and all but the problem starts as soon as I dragged them into the timeline.
-I changed motion graphic path in the project settings.
-I treid on v.24 as well. CC allows me to download 24. Not 23s

The funny thing is, I have i9 Intel Macbook Pro. After I tried the use it morgts on tht computer, they worked just fine. No crashes. In v.25.1.
I think there is a huge problem about silicone mac integration on this topic.

It is a huge problem for me right now because I have a new line of projects that depended on majorly morgts and AE templates. I am looking into Davinci and Final Cut to not to blok production on those projects. I had recently bought out some subscriptions from template websites like envato, motion array and etc. This issue make those purchases useless as well as Premiere and AE. I really need help asap.
Any help would be appriciated.

Hi @Bahadır98BC

I went ahead and grabbed the Text messenger morgt's and loaded them into a Premiere Pro 25.1 project. So far I have not been able to get the program to crash. You mentioned all 3rd party mogrt's and After Effects templates cause immediate crash on both Premiere Pro and After Effects. Does the crash happen even with a fresh new sequence with no video layers? And is it correct to say that the morgt's work fine on your Macbook Pro but crash the-M2 Ultra Mac Studio, 15.3.1?

Hi @Bahadır98BC -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.
Please see, How do I write a bug report?

Do you receive a crash dialog box, if so can you please click the checkbox that says adobe may contact me and then enter your email address.

Have you contacted the third party developers of the panel you are using.  Let us know what version you have.

Sorry for the frustration.

Hi Jamie
Eventhoug my original post cantaoins all the data that the article mentions, here is the same data in the format from the article you shared.

Use the template below to provide us with information:

  • Issue - Mogrt files causes crashes
  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: v.25.1 and all v.24's
  • Operating system - macOS 15.3.1
  • System Info: CPU, GPU, RAM, HD:
    • M2 Ultra

    • 128 GB RAM

    • 1Tb External

  • Video format: Irrelevant
  • Workflow details: I tried several different sequences and havd same outcome
  • Steps to reproduce - (Very important!) Drag and drop mogrt from motion graphic templates panel to the timeline
  • Expected result - app shoul load the mogrt
  • Actual result -  crash

I sent the crash report that today once again.

Talked to developers but they believe the problem is Adobe's side.

As I mentioned in my original post, having the same settings and same versions in my intel processor mac gave me no problems at all.
I kindly suggest reading my original post as well. All releated and important details are mentioned over there as well. You can see the versions over there as well as here above.

Regards
Bahadir

We will run further test using the files provided, I have tried this on a MacBook Pro M3 Max and so far no crashes. I will see if there is anything different with a Mac Studio.

Thank you

Hi @IanB_360
Thank you for replying.
Yes, regardless of the sequence settings or whether it is empty or not, the same result every time.
I tried with nearly every possible combination. No footage in the project nor in the timeline-A footage in the project but not in the timeline-one or more footage in the timeline...
There is also an option Premiere asks before uploading mogrt into the timeline about the sequence where it happens if sequence settings won't match with mogrt settings. I tried both options here but had no luck.

As for your other question. Yes, it is correct. After struggling for a couple of days, I then tried to open them on my Macbook Pro 16" i9 and the apps didn't crash. Yesterday I opened that Macbook and created a project. Then I imported the mogrt into the timeline and saved it. Then I sent it to my M2 Ultra and tried to open the project. It crashed immediately and won't open the project file.

One note about After Affect. Not only does it crash with mogrts, but it crashes immediately after opening every .aep project I got from Envato as a Video Template.
