This is currently a Known Issues we will be providing updates when we know more.  Thank you for your patience.

MEDIA DOES NOT DISPLAY ON THE TIMELINE ON WINDOWS SYSTEMS

On Windows, if a custom scale factor is set in System > Display, media does not display on the Premiere Pro timeline. We are working to fix this issue in an updated version of Premiere Pro. Two workarounds are available:

  1. In Windows, turn off custom scaling and use one of the standard scaling options, or
  2. In Premiere Pro, turn off GPU-accelerated UI rendering in Preferences > General.

This problem has been fixed internally and will be released with the next public version of Premiere Pro (Pr 25.1). If you don't want to wait for that, you can see the fix in a recent Public Beta build of Pr 25.2 (build 005 or higher). Also, you can turn off custom scaling (115%) in Windows display settings to avoid the problem altogether.

Hallo liebe Community,

Hi everyone,

I’ve just updated to version 25.0 and immediately ran into an annoying bug.

Whenever I place a clip at the very start of the timeline (00:00:00), it vanishes. It only shows up if I move the timeline slider forward a few frames, but then I can't see the actual start.

Has anyone else come across this issue, or found a workaround?

My wife has been complaining for several months that when she tries to zoom out on the timeline (we have mouse scroll wheel set to zoom in/out), that the timeline will suddenly disappear. Well the timeline area is still there, but everything that was visible in the timeline suddenly disappears. You can zoom out a few times and then all of a sudden you go one more zoom out, and poof, everything gone. Zoom back in, and it reappears.

I did some testing, and it turns the issue has something to do with Windows Scaling. My wife had changed the windows scaling setting to 130%, because text and icons were so tiny at the native screen resolution.

This issues is reproduceible ...

Set Windows scaling to 100%, and there is no issue. Set Windows scaling to greater than 100% (like 110% or 120% or 130%), and the zoom issue returns.

She just updated to Premier Pro 2025 which has the issue, but this issue was also in 2024 version as well.

So the only workaround I came up with was to set scaling back to 100% and then I changed the resolution of the monitor (in windows as well) to a smaller resolution, to make the icons and text bigger again.

Did you delete the cache when you upgraded. Try doing that, hold down alt and double-click the PP icon.

Neuester NVIDIA Treiber.
GPU: 3080 TI, AMD Ryzen 3950X, Windows 11 (aktuelle Updates). 60 Hz oder 75Hz macht keinen Unterschied.

Hi @jefshrek,

Thanks for the report. Welcome to the forum! I am Kevin, and I'm a moderator here. I am not a developer, so I can't officially debug your issue but I can try to assist.

I read about your issue. The team might need more info. See, How do I write a bug report?

I hope the team can help you shortly with this issue. Thanks for the troubleshooting you've done already. Monitor Scaling and Premiere Pro have had issues and I hope the team can take action on this shortly.

While 4K monitors are prevalent these days, they might be too large for the average Premiere Pro editor, making the icons too small.

I wonder if a 2K monitor might be a better fit for your wife. It's nice to have a 4K editor for monitoring, but for editing, I'd prefer something smaller so that icons would be sized more normally.

If you need to monitor 4K, you can always route the signal through a second monitor so you can check the HQ signal when necessary.

With the new Spectrum UI, I hope the team will be able to offer more options for icon and UI scaling.

I hope the team will respond soon. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,

Kevin

Resolution 3440 x 1440 (75 Hz). Changing to 60 Hz no difference.
2nd Screen with 1920x1080 and 60 Hz.
HDs are in Raid Mode 6 TB

Video formats in the timeline don't matter. Using just images, some sounds - same problem.
Even 1 demo clip in the timeline results in this problem. Turning of GPU for playback does not help.

Version of Premiere is everything up from 25 - After the major Update the problems started. I tried the newest Beta - Problems are the same. Basically once the UI was GPU enabled (or disabled).

Returned to V24 (latest) and it works as it should.

@jefshrek,

What is the native resolution of the monitor? Are you setting the scaling in the regular dropdown, or the Advanced Scaling Setting? What is the "Recommended" scaling? Windows 10 or 11?

Hi

Further information on the bug, here is my PC spec: -
Core (TM) i7 8700k
CPU @ 3.70 GHZ
RAM 48 GB

PC Hard Drive

I have attached a copy of the Premier Pro file.

When I pull the MP4 across to the timeline the video appears in the program
screen and can be seen and heard but the video and audio are not on display
in the timeline.

When clicking on the timeline sometimes the video and audio will appear and
then disappear.

When the video is displayed in the timeline when you scrub the time line it
wipes out the video and audio in the time line.

This problem has only since I updated my software to version 25.

I have uninstalled version 25 and reinstalled plus restarting my computer
an the issue still exists

This is on Windows 10.

PROBLEM OCCURED WHEN:

It was set to RECOMMENDED resolution of 3440 x 1440.

Then under Advanced Scaling Settings, she set Custom Scaling to 130%.

Problem occurs with any Custom Scaling setting greater than 100%.

FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH:

Set Custom Scaling back to 100%.
Set resolution to 2560 x 1080 (which is not recommended setting).
