MEDIA DOES NOT DISPLAY ON THE TIMELINE ON WINDOWS SYSTEMS

On Windows, if a custom scale factor is set in System > Display, media does not display on the Premiere Pro timeline. We are working to fix this issue in an updated version of Premiere Pro. Two workarounds are available:

  1. In Windows, turn off custom scaling and use one of the standard scaling options, or
  2. In Premiere Pro, turn off GPU-accelerated UI rendering in Preferences > General.

Does anyone else have this issue with the new update?

This problem has been fixed internally and will be released with the next public version of Premiere Pro (Pr 25.1). If you don't want to wait for that, you can see the fix in a recent Public Beta build of Pr 25.2 (build 005 or higher). Also, you can turn off custom scaling (115%) in Windows display settings to avoid the problem altogether.

Hi @jamieclarke,

I posted initially. The problem still persists for me, and yes, Windows custom scaling seems to be the culprit. I run it at 135% on my 5k2k untrawide monitor - without the scaling PP is illegible for me (old monitor eyes!)

In the meantime, I've reverted to 24, where the scaling isn't an issue.

Can you please confirm here when the issue has been resolved - even in the beta - and I'll try it out.

Cheers for your help!

Per Jamie on the Pinned posts:

  1. In Windows, turn off custom scaling and use one of the standard scaling options, or
  2. In Premiere Pro, turn off GPU-accelerated UI rendering in Preferences > General.

Premiere Pro version 25 is misbehaving on my laptop whereby everytime I hover, zoom in and out on the Timeline Panel. I see glitches whereby the clips get lost till I then hover or zoom in closer to a specific footage in the timeline it's when it gets back.

This is hindering me from editing esoecially when I want to preview the entire edited sequence all at once.

I have attached a video file illustrating this issue. Keep an eye on the timeline to see how it behaves every time I expand, hover and contract the timeline area.

Please Note My Laptop Specs:

Model; HP OMEN 16

RAM - 24GB

Graphics Card; GEFORCE RTX

Processor - Core i7

The issue you are writing about has many posts over the past two weeks. Adobe identified the issue and put a test fix  in beta 25.0.0.3.

You can eliminate the issue by setting your Windows Scaling to 100%. I typically run mine at 115% and scaling was causing the problem.

Also, some users have found a work around in Adobe Premiere by turning off the GPU acceleration feature. The software may not be as responsive if you do this.

Or you can continue to use version 24 until the fix that is in the beta version makes it into full release.

Adobe Premiere Verion number 25.0.0

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro version 22H2

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor 3.80 GHz

GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070

GPU Driver 32.0.15.6094

RAM: 64gb

Harddrive: WDC WDS100T2B0B

Video Format: 1920x1080, 30fps, square pixels

I am working on a Teams project I am using with a few other people. I converted to Teams recently, after regrettably downloading Premiere 2025 to match versions with my other editors.

While cutting in clips I noticed that some of my clips disappear from the timeline. When I bring my playhead to the same place in the timeline, the program monitor behaves like the clip is there. I also get some weird visual glitches on the timeline as I drag the playhead around. I am unable to select/move/disable the missing clip, the timeline acts like it isnt there at all. So now there is a clip stuck in my timeline that cannot be moved or seen in the timeline.

Unfortuntely I can't share screenshots of this as that would break my NDA.

Is there a known work around for this bug, or should I recommened a different editing software to my team?

The newest beta version of Premiere fixed the bug.

Check your Windows scaling. If it is more thsn 100% change it to 100. That will fix it.

Also, you can still use version 24. You can redownload it from Creative Cloud. That's what I did.

So whenever I go to export an edit, hit the export button, go to the location where I want to save the file, and the second I try to create a folder, Premiere and After Effect both just immediately crash.

This is an absolutely insane bug, how after so many years has something like this happened? The obvious work around is just create the folder beforehand or in the file explorer.

Hello, I was having the same problem. When I installed Windows 11, I noticed that everything on the screen was enlarged and I changed the screen settings from 125% (it comes automatically like this) to 115%. The screen size was exactly as I wanted, but I encountered this ridiculous problem in Premiere. Now I changed the screen size back to 125% and the problem was solved. I hope it helps.

“Also, you can turn off custom scaling (115%) in Windows display settings to avoid the problem altogether.”

What does this mean? Is this a setting in Premiere? In Windows OS?

Look back thru this thread, there's 5 pages here currently.

That's Windows scaling, go into the settings app and search for 'scale'

When I opened my CC PP to start a project, I have found an odd error I have never seen before.

I imported my video clips into the project.  Then when I went to add them to the sequence/timeline, the yellow bar appeared on the timeline showing that clips had been inserted but I could not see the clips.

Randune23_0-1731616955863.png

I really need to get this video out today and I don't have time to deal with PP bugs today and I DO NOT want to have to create this video tonight on my home PC.

Has anyone ever seen this?  It's definitely a new one to me.

Randy

Randy,

I suggest you uninstall v25 and reinstall v24.

They are working to fix this bug.

Once they have you can then move back to v25

Cheers
