P: There is no image in the preview section of the project

Hello, today, while I was working on a project in Premiere Pro, the preview image suddenly disappeared. In Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, the video preview does not open in the part where the preview screen is located. When I press the space bar, the sound of the video starting is heard, but there is no image. I searched in many places, but I could not find a solution. I deleted it and reinstalled it, it didn't work, I cleared the media cache and it didn't work, I downgraded or upgraded the version and it didn't work either. I tried and many other things but I couldn't find a solution. I am sending the screen recording as an attachment. I would be very happy if you could help me.

(my system properties
i7 13700h
gtx 4060
32 ddr5 ram
1tb ssd
The video I was working on was a very simple edit, so I don't think it was caused by a system freeze.)

I DID! Different solution btw..

They told me to open:
Device Manager > Display adapters > Intel UHD Graphics > right click and choose update driver > browse my computer for driver > Let Me Pick > Choose Microsoft Basic Display Adapter > Next.

After install, restart computer, and try Premiere! IT WORKS! SOLVED!

Thank you guys for help & suggestion! It means a lot for me!

I called HP support and they remotely connected to my computer. They downloaded the HP Cloud Recovery from the Microsoft Store to update the BIOS to a new version. It was a 3-hour process. Previously, they had me enter the boot menu by pressing specific keys that they guided me through during the phone call. I had to use a USB drive for the entire process. I recommend backing up all your files before calling. I just downloaded Premiere again (2024 version) and now IT WORKS! The problem is solved

Strangely, my collegue with an Intel KF tested it and he has no issues which drives me to the conclusion that Intel iGPU may be the culprit, that is its work in Pr 25, because Pr 24 started lighting fast

Can confirm that switching to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter drivers works. However it is not a perfect solution. My footage plays a lot more choppy than it used to. And the monitor brightness of my laptop is no longer adjustable.

Aditionally i found this problem also bleeds over to Lightroom, when using previous drivers my photo's wouldn't load in and i'd be staring at a blank screen. With the Basic Display drivers they load in again, but with the lower screen brightness color correction is significantly harder.

My bad, I've just found out! My friends told me, it just temporary solution... so my solution just make our Intel graphic disabled..

With Intel graphic disabled make our computer laggy, and can't adjust brightness. cos we don't use the Intel graphic at all.

So, my temporary solution, I install it into Microsoft Basic Display Adapter when edit video & install Intel UHD Graphics when use others aplication.

My opinion, at least we know the source of problems lies on Intel Graphic. I will update other solution later, if found it..

I’m experiencing an issue where the preview screen is either black or blank, and the same happens with all the other video clips. Interestingly, when I use the shortcut "Ctrl + `" to go fullscreen, the video displays correctly, but it doesn't show up while I'm trying to edit, which is very frustrating. I've searched online for solutions to this black or blank screen problem, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going on?

Just want to double check – could you have shifted the picture out of the window? Will resetting the view like this picture work?

By this substitution of Intel own driver for the microsoft generic one you don't fix an issue but rather turn off the iGPU capabilities turning it to a pumpkin... This is no solution. I have my intel drivers updated the moment an update is out due to Intel's Driver assistant, but this issue persists and it's only in Premiere Pro 25.

@Kevin-Monahan

Why was my problem merged with this thread? It has nothing to do with the previews https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/p-there-is-no-image-in-the-preview-section-of-the-p...

I have the same problem with HP laptop. I found a short-term solution. If I switch off one of the two graphics types, it works. I now suspect that it is due to the Windows 11 23H2 update.

While editing a video, I can't see my videos in the preview sections even if the video is continuing. I tried everything. Rendering, RAM control, restarting and resetting the computer and the application. Reinstalling the application. I couldn't solve it in any way. I also deleted it from the Media Cache section. How can I see my videos in the preview section and have less lag while editing? I can't continue editing in any way right now. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm having same problem on HP Victus. Reverting to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter does make the video visible in the program monitor again but this seems like a bandaid more than a fix.

Hi @rmedtrem - We are checking in on your issue, have you been able to solve it?

Does this happen on ever workspace?  I don't see a workspace labeled standard, can you be more specific.

Bug Report

Issue: My Source Monitor and Program Monitor are non-responsive and laggy. They do not show any video, but they do appear to be playing and outputting audio. Only when i full screen the window it plays perfectly. Drivers are all fully updated. Rolling the drivers back to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter does work for displaying video again. But makes the whole laptop run like mud. I made a screen-capture displaying my issues but it says i'm not authorized to upload video in this blog post.

Adobe Version: 24.6.3 (Build 4)

Operating System: Windows 11 Home

System Info

CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 - 13700H

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070

GPU Driver Version: 32.0.15.5594

RAM: 16GB

Drive: External LaCie Rugged 5TB, USB3

Video Format: 1920x1080p, 50FPS, MP4

Workflow Details: Nothing specific to mention.

Steps to reproduce: Connect external hard drive, open Premiere, everything works fine except for the Source and Program Monitors

Expected result: Should be able to see my footage to edit it.

Actual result: Can't see my footage unless full screen.

Honestly no idea, the GeForce Experience app is crashing upon opening so i can't check which one i have. My guess is gonna be Game Drivers cause i specifically bought this laptop for editting and gaming.
