h264 was not intended for 10 bit. h265 on the other end is.

It is for a film festival: Prores or mp4. I am PC so Prores is challenging. Maybe I will give an MXF OP1A and the client can get a Prores done somewhere....

unless your footage was 10 bit, there's no point. also, heavily compressed 10 bit doesn't mean anything(the bits get truncated via bitrate)

plus the playback device has to support 10 bit all through the pipeline. main 10 is the 10 bit profile. usually HEVC, but there is a 10 bit main 10 in a handbrake mod(you have to download separately)

You can export 10 bit H.264, bit not in the MP4 container.  Those will be 8 bit only.

Under the MXF OP1a format, there are AVC-I presets, which are 10 bit.

On a side note, even Hollywood movies on Blu-ray are 8 bit 4:2:0, so the Match Source - Adaptive High Bitrate preset under the H.264 format will get you very usable results.
