30fps timeline or 60fps timeline for slowmotion

if I want to slow 60fps footage down 50% but also keep some 60fps footage at 100% speed  which timeline framerate is best, as I’ll be exporting at the timeline’s framerate.

I’ve always had it at 30fps as when I slow down some 60fps (for slow motion) clips premiere has to discard excess frames rather than make up  ones. Which I would of thought is the best way to avoid choppy footage. Am I doing this the right way.

I recommend working with a 30 fps timeline.

For the clips you want to keep at their current speed, select them in the Timeline, then go to Clip > Video Options > Time Interpolation and set it to Optical Flow.

I say keep the timeline at 60 fps.

If you place 60 fps fluid motion footage on a 30 fps timeline Premiere Pro will throw away 50% of your frames and the 60 fps  video at 100% speed will look choppy and stuttery. Slowing down 60 fps footage to 50% will look great if you use Optical Flow as Paul suggests in his post.
