Often I need to slip a shot a certain amount. Let's say it's 10min 12 secs and 23 frames.
How would you do this?
Thanks
Hi Trevor_Asq,

I'll ask around, but I don't believe that's possible. Would slipping and sliding be any easier if you had JKL control? Here's how to do that: http://blogs.adobe.com/kevinmonahan/2013/01/18/slipping-and-sliding-in-trim-mode-in-premiere-pro-cs6/
Please create a feature request for your excellent idea. I will help you push for it internally if you do so.
Thanks,
Kevin

The amount of slip or slide shows up in the pop-up. That's the best I know of.

Yes, shame we can't type +10.12 into that box and have it slip/slide by that amount.

Hi Kevin
I find trim mode to be clunky & slow (I edit mainly with AVCI 100 footage) so tend to avoid it. I do use JKL a LOT in Avid, but they have better/faster means of getting into slip/slide/trim.
The 'slip many' keystrokes work pretty well for scooting through footage, but sometimes I do need to jump minutes at a time.
i have put the FR in - not for the first time I think. Thanks for pushing it along. I am liking PP a lot these days

Duly noted. I think you know I was "reaching" anyway. 😉

Thanks for popping it in there. I like your request. Keep 'em coming. We need more along these lines.
Have a good one!

How are you moving a clip in the Sequence (any distance) currently?

Mouse dragging generally (in slip or slide mode).

I rarely use slip or slide tool and especially not for relocating a clip. Slip and Slide to me are fine edit tuning tools like Trim.
For long relocates of a clip ... you might want to have a play with Lift or Extract and CTRL/V ( Paste) instead of long mouse drags on a zoomed out sequence where precision disappears.
Important: Consider your track Targeting first then....
Select Clip / Clips > "/" (Mark Selection)
Lift or Extract depending on what you want ( a gap or a ripple delete) using Program Monitor Icons or shortcut keys.
Numerically reposition playhead say 10min 12 secs and 23 frames
Consider your track Targeting again then...
CTRL/V ( Paste)
A few variations around this of course.

Thanks for the idea but I am aware of copy paste.
I'm more likely to be slipping by large amounts where the source is a long clip and I need to change the shot from within that source clip.
At the moment the workaround is to set program track targets, select clip, match frame, shuttle around to find a new shot, 'replace clip from source monitor-match frame'
Which does take longer to write than do! Plus I only do that when 'slip selected clip many' repeatedly doesn't get me there. So it's not a show stopper, but more attention to trim/slip/slide operations would be a big help.
Similarly the program/source track selections could use attention:
a. Autopatch - like Avid
b. Deselect / Select all program tracks shortcuts
c. Deselect / Select all source tracks shortcuts
(Currently can only 'toggle', which is no good for macros, v&a sepeeately. Although I guess 'default patch' may be 'select all' )
d. I can keyboard shortcut (e.g.) 'target track 1' but not 'source track 1' - why?
That is mainly aimed @kevin so he can look out for the FR!

Did anyone come up with anythign for this? I am trying to use the slip tool and it moves 2 frams at a time, when I need it to move only 1 frame at a time. Is there a way around this? I was able to do it the very first time I tried, but after that I can't.
